Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) is an established provider of the national programme, 'NHS Talking Therapies' formerly known as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies' (IAPT). The service provides stepped care treatment for people with mild, moderate and severe common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Talking Therapies (CPTT) based in Peterborough team. 

This is an opportunity for any experienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) who are keen to develop their careers.

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Talking Therapies currently operates a hybrid working pattern. The successful will be expected to work from the base at least once a week and offer in-person interventions as required.

To develop the low intensity role and develop key qualities and skills in others.

The role will support other senior clinicians to ensure that national guidelines are adhered to in line with the NHS Talking Therapies programme and help to ensure targets are met.

To hold a caseload and offer evidence-based practice in step 2 interventions offered by the service.

To assist in the development, support, and training of other qualified and trainee PWPs and support the induction and onboarding  process.

To take responsibility for facilitating clinical skills groups for trainees and helping facilitate LTC supervision groups in service. Where needed provide training and upskilling other supervisors particularly regarding criteria for appropriate step 2 cases.

To facilitate good links with local GPs, provide case management, clinical supervision, and line management to trainee PWPs and qualified PWPs under the direction on the Senior managers.

To work with  people from different cultural backgrounds and act as service representative at regional or national committees for PWPs.

  • To carry out all clinical duties that include undertaking assessments and treatment of people experiencing common mental health challenges according to the CPTT criteria. Ensuring that own work is of high standard, and that the treatment provided are in line with the NICE guidelines and step 2 protocols.
  • To be compliant with the required standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies. This includes the organisation’s policies and protocols.
  • To undertake appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis in accordance with the relevant professional guidelines and policies. Thus, proactively take responsibility for attending supervision, case management and line management regularly, participate in objective setting, performance reviews and respond to agreed objective.
  • Take personal responsibility for achieving agreed clinical activity in accordance with service policies.
  • Develop an area of special interest, to the level whereby the Senior PWP could become a resource of information for the whole service.
  • Ensure personal participation with ‘continuous professional development’ (CPD) activities throughout the year and contribute towards identification of training needs amongst the PWPs in service and assist in the development of routes for Continuing Professional Development CPD where possible in co-ordination with the Clinical Supervisors.
  • To participate in Trust’s appraisal, performance management framework and ensure adherence to Clinical Governance policies. Thus, engage in own annual appraisal exercise as well as lead in the review and appraisals of other staff under your direct management.
  • Attend professional meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensure that client confidentiality is always protected.
  • Contribute to the systematic clinical governance of the service

Experience

  • Significant evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem in Talking Therapies services (previously IAPT)
  • Significant knowledge of delivering step 2 interventions using various CBT protocols and working within the requirements of NICE guidelines. Also, offering step interventions using different methods e.g., telephone, cCBT, in-person treatment
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in difficult and complex situations

  • Experience of working in mental health services where multi-disciplinary working was embraced as part of service delivery
  • Experience of working in the local community
  • Lived experience of mental health problems
