We are looking to recruit a Pharmacy Assistant to be part of the Trust Medicines Management Team working with our Inpatient Pharmacy Team in Brighton & Hove.  You will be responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical duties and supporting Pharmacists and Medicines Management technicians at ward level.

This post is subject to a standard check with adults barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.

Main duties of the job

This post presents an opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant motivated by the desire to improve patient care, by supporting the Inpatient Pharmacy Team in Brighton & Hove. You will be working with Specialist Pharmacists and Technicians to provide this service.

You will be a point of contact for healthcare professionals and pharmacy staff for stock issues including drug chart transcription and medicines transfers between different care settings.

You will assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and effective pharmaceutical services to all units and wards of the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust within the locality.

This specific post is responsible for the facilitation, development and provision of pharmacy (supply) services to the mental health units and wards of this Trust within the locality.

You will be actively involved with medicines management duties, ordering stock and all consumable supplies and assisting the Senior Pharmacy Technician with technical developments for this service.

You will be actively involved in checking of Patient Own Drugs (PODs) to ensure their safe, suitability and accuracy for patient use.

The role requires an organised, flexible individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The team provides a well-structured support system, access to training, with opportunity for development.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2, Pharmacy Services. Including three core units.
  • Minimum 3 GCSEs A*-C grade, including Maths
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate accuracy, numeracy, literacy and attention to detail.
Desirable criteria
  • Unit 6: Assist in the issuing of pharmaceutical stock
  • Unit 13: Receive pharmaceutical stock
  • Unit 14: Maintain pharmaceutical stock
  • Unit 16: Order routine pharmaceutical stock
