Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust has developed and integrated primary care with community-based services within the Dudley healthcare system since 2020 with its core aim being community where possible and hospital when necessary.  Our purpose is to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population in Dudley. We are currently working with organisations within the health care sector in Dudley and the Black Country System to look at the best way to continue to deliver the services to our patients. As such this service will transfer to BCH over the course of the next 12 months.

This is a trainee role within the Dudley NHS Talking Therapies for Anxiety and Depression (DTT). The post-holder will work within the DTT service providing high volume low intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role.

The training post will equip the post–holder to provide a range of low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients at Step 2, with mild to moderate anxiety and depression across a range of media

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • To provide comprehensive assessments and treatments for clients presenting with common mental health problems using evidence-based psychological principles and working within the context of primary care services.
  • This will be delivered on a 1 to 1 or group basis via telephone, video or face to face. The role is based across the Dudley borough and travel will be required between sites where necessary, and the working week split will be subject to service need.
  • To make decisions on suitability of new referrals into the service, and refer/signpost clients on to other relevant services or back to the referral agent as necessary.
  • Offer patients a choice of treatment pathways available based on a stepped care model approach and NICE guidance. 
  • Deliver low intensity psychological treatments at step 2 of the stepped care model supporting patients with self-management of common mental health difficulties 
  • To conduct risk assessments with clients and to take appropriate action when necessary.
  • Work closely with supervisors in line with the stepped care approach.
  • To adhere to agreed clinical activity relating to the number of client contacts and clinical sessions 
  • To ensure and maintain clinical records and reports in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and professional standards
  • To attend a university course & attend regular supervision sessions as required by the training programme.
  • Keep up to date with mandatory training requirements and Continuous Professional Development

Qualifications/ Training

  • A degree or equivalent in relevant subject For postgraduate certificate route OR Two Advanced Level GCEs or equivalent (E.g. B-Tec, GNVQ, NVQ Level 3 and 4). - For graduate certificate route

Experience

  • • Evidence of a minimum of 12 months experience in direct contact clinical work with clients presenting with mental health problems, particularly depression and anxiety disorders.
