Specialist Provisions

Would you like to come and join our Children’s Speech & Language Therapy Team in Coventry ?

Due to additional funding an exciting opportunity has arisen for  an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join our innovative community-based team working across Coventry.

This is a role predominantly working in specialist provisions across this city. This would include special schools and Enhanced Resource  Bases.  You would be providing assessment and intervention for children and young people with aspects of the role also including training for parents and education staff .

You will also have some service wide responsibilities and would offer clinical and caseload support to less experienced colleagues. The service is delivered in a variety of settings; family homes, nurseries, mainstream and special schools and the city centre clinic. We also provide some virtual appointments via Attend Anywhere.

Main duties of the job

The Children’s Speech & Language Therapy Team aims to provide a high-quality service to children, young people and their families. We provide assessment, interventions, advice and support to children and young people aged 0-19 with a Coventry GP. We also support children in Coventry schools with an Education, Health & Care Plan. We have developed clinical pathways and a competency programme in a variety of clinical areas including Speech, Language, Voice, Fluency, Dysphagia, Hearing Impairment, Cleft Palate, Alternative & Augmentative Communication and young children “At Risk” of SLCN.

We are committed to professional development and evidence-based practice, offering regular in-service CPD days and peer group clinical supervision. Mentoring and management supervision are also provided as well as support from more experienced therapists. Internal and external training courses are supported.

Being a member of a large Speech and Language Therapy team of SLTs  and Assistants and close working with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy colleagues gives opportunities for lots of different clinical and training experiences.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will have a Speech & Language Therapy qualification and RCSLT & HCPC registration. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and initiative, enthusiasm and organisation skills to work as part of a Multidisciplinary and Multi Agency Team. It is desirable to have experience of working with complex children in specialist settings and to have AAC experience.

  • SLT clinical experience of working with children with a variety of clinical needs
