An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our medicines systems team as part of the pharmacy department at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to recruit a talented, enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated individual to work as a key member of our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in hospital pharmacy, and experience in the use of medicine electronic systems such as WellSky electronic prescribing medicine administration (ePMA) & pharmacy stock control and Omnicell.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work as part of the medicines systems team supporting systems management, deployment and operations of the pharmacy systems, organisational training of staff, developing and delivering reports and contribute to developing all Medicines systems.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
They will support the day-to-day activity and provide system management on a variety of IT systems involved with the prescribing, supply of medicines and transfer of patient information to wards, departments and GP practices including Wellsky electronic prescribing, medicines administration (ePMA) and stock control and OmniCenter.
Support the safe and effective deployment and operation of Medicines IT systems such as Wellsky ePMA and Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets across Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Support the organisation with training of all staff required to use the Wellsky ePMA system, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets and Wellsky Pharmacy stock control system. This will include medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
They will develop and prepare management and clinical reports to be used by other practitioners to support clinical practice and performance management and to continually develop the pharmacy systems and associated policies and procedures to support a safe, effective, and efficient service.
Contributing to the development of all Medicine systems for the benefit of the service.
And to work alongside procurement staff to ensure smooth purchasing, invoicing, and contract management processes.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills and be IT literate. You will need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development. An understanding of reporting and evidence of a familiarity in Excel® and Access would be advantageous to this role.
Applicants must hold a recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification (BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences, NVQ level 3 or equivalent) and be a technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. The suitable candidate will preferably have a breadth of pharmacy experience in a hospital setting, with the proven ability to perform as a team player.

- NVQ Level 3 & BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent
- GSCE (or equiv) grade A*-C or 9-4 In Maths and English.
- Registered pharmacy technician with the UK General Pharmaceutical Council
Experience
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the Data Protection Act and Caldicott.
- Hospital Pharmacy Practice.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of teaching, training and presentation.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy IT systems
- Knowledge of WellSky Pharmacy Stock Control, WellSky electronic prescribing, Omnicell automation
- Knowledge and experience of hospital medicines management systems.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Advanced IT skills using Microsoft® Excel, Access and Word.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
