Adult Eating Disorders Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) B5/6

NHS AfC: Band 6

Would you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best NHS Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Services Trust  to work for.  This ranking is based on staff feedback in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.

Job overview

As part of an expanding Adult Eating Disorders Service (AEDS) due to recent transformation and development, we are delighted to be able to appoint a dynamic Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our Adult Eating Disorders Service in the Community Outpatients. This is a substantive post 1.0 WTE basis. We also welcome expressions of interest from those interested in part time hours (minimum of 0.6 WTE).  The post holder will be based at our main service hub at Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford.

The post holder will be joining what are well-established Community Outpatient facility for working age adults with moderate to severe eating disorders, with close links to our Day Care provision.

The successful applicant will become an integral member of the Adult Eating Disorders Outpatient team and will provide specialist intensive treatment for adults (18 years +) with moderate to severe eating disorders and co-existing mental health needs. The main responsibilities of the post holder will include contributing to assessments, keywork provision, MDT meetings, handovers, physical health monitoring, risk management, care planning, group co-facilitation, and audit.

Main duties of the job

While experience of working with people with eating disorders is desirable, we are primarily seeking RMNs with a keen interest in working in the field and a willingness to develop specialist knowledge of eating disorders and their treatment. As such, mentoring, additional supervision and Eating Disorders specific training will be provided to facilitate the post holders’ transition and skills development where needed.

Depending on experience, we have the flexibility to offer this role as a substantive Band 6 post or as Band 5 to 6 development post. If the latter, then the successful applicant would begin on Band 5 with a view to progressing to specialist Band 6 posts within 12 – 24 months.

If you are interested in learning more about these exciting opportunities, we welcome you to contact the outpatient service manager to arrange and to be given a tour and for the opportunity to meet informally with what is an expanding, well established and friendly team. Please also contact   Arran Higgins - Service Manager (Tel: 01483 448020) if you wish to discuss these posts.
