We are looking for passionate, and dedicated individuals with BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and looking to progress in either Echocardiography or Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) positions.

 

We are part of a dedicated Cardiac Centre, including a Cardiac Ward and state of the art Cardiac Catheter Lab with an excellent multi-disciplinary team. Diagnostic Cardiology is a small, friendly department and we are very proud of the quality of services we offer including; Trans-thoracic Echo, Stress Echos, Trans-Oesophageal Echo, Specialist Valve Clinics, Diagnostic Coronary Angiography, Pacemakers, CRT and Implantable Loop Recorders. We provide tailored training and support for trainees across a range of entry routes, including the Apprenticeship and STP programmes. We actively encourage staff progression and support staff to obtain / maintain professional accreditation for echo or pacing. Our Diagnostic Cardiology staff consists of a mix of cardiac physiologists, cardiographers, assistant technical officers and administrative support staff.

It is essential that the applicant holds BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent. As a progression post, the department will support candidate through either Echo or CRM qualifications and into Chief Cardiac Physiologist Band 7 positions. As a Chief Cardiac Physiologist, there will be a degree of managerial responsibilities and the Trust will support you in developing this knowledge and skills.

STAFF CAR PARKING

 

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30.

 

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.  Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

 

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.

The post holder will work as part of the Diagnostic Cardiology team to provide high quality cardiac diagnostics, with patient care at the forefront.

 

As a band 6 senior cardiac physiologist, you will participate in the day-to-day operation of the department, including teaching and training. The successful applicant should be competent at performing ECGs, provocative ECG and ambulatory ECG/BP analysis. The post holder should be competent in angiography/pacing or at performing echocardiograms, ideally working towards national accreditation for either CRM or Echocardiography.

 

The post holder will maintain an interest in the profession, and knowledge of new techniques and protocols; attending courses where necessary, in line with the service demand.  This will include following a personal development plan as part of the appraisal system.

 

The post holder will remain professional at all times, liaise with other clinical teams and maintain good public relations on a one-to-one basis with the general public and other interest groups.

The post holder will work as part of the Diagnostic Cardiology team to provide high quality cardiac diagnostics, with patient care at the forefront.

 

As a band 7 Chief Cardiac Physiologist you will expected to perform complex diagnostics independently, as well as actively contributing to service development.

 

The department currently conducts 12 lead ECGs, provocative ECG including MIBI and ETT’s, ambulatory monitoring, Holter analysis and transthoracic echocardiography. We also provide transoesophageal echo, stress/contrast/bubble echo and physiologist-led valve disease clinics. We have a modern state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, where diagnostic angiography, ILR, pacemaker and CRT implants are performed. Alongside this we run a full in-clinic and remote bradycardia pacing and ILR follow up service, with a CRTP follow up service which we hope to expand. 

 

The post holder will be expected to contribute to an area of service delivery, as well as line-manage and train junior staff. The post holder will be expected to take an active role in service development, contributing to education, audit and quality assurance within the department.
