Applied Psychologist - Clinical/Counselling/Forensic

NHS AfC: Band 8b

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We are looking for a Principal Applied Psychologist (Clinical/Forensic/Counselling) to support the implementation and delivery of the Framework for Integrated Care (Secure Stairs) at HMYOI Werrington which is part of the Young Person's Secure Estate for England and is located near Stoke-on-Trent.  It accommodates males aged 15-18 and has an operational capacity of 120. A recently published review by the HM Inspectorate of Prison and Probation (HMPPS) found that “the most consistently cited factor in improving the life chances of a child who is at risk of, or involved in, offending behaviour is the development of positive relationships.”

This framework is psychologically lead, and attachment informed, with many needs and risks understood as arising from traumatic life events and disrupted relationships, often beginning early in childhood. The ethos of the framework is that ‘every interaction matters’, the aim being to enable those in our care to have better mental and physical health; better education, employment and housing opportunities; and better chances of leading a pro-social and positive life.

If you are already a Principal Applied Psychologist, or looking to take the next step in your career, then we would love to hear from you.
