We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Innovation Manager to join the Research and Innovation Directorate at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. This is a new role bringing together the Innovation portfolio, creating a fantastic opportunity to join a large multidisciplinary directorate. We are seeking an experienced professional with a background in Innovation to develop and manage our current portfolio. The role is 12 months fixed term/secondment with the expectation that during the term, a business case for the sustainability of the role will be established by the successful candidate.
The Trust is looking for a dynamic and pro-active leader, with experience of managing multiple projects with all NHS professions and stakeholders. This new role will be part of the Research and Innovation Directorate and will play a key role in the development of the future Innovation strategic objectives, through collaboration, education, and awareness, to open Innovation opportunities and solutions to our UHNM colleagues.
Main duties of the job
The Innovation Manager will link in with regional and national partners taking forward NHS Innovations, giving UHNM a voice in this arena. The post holder will support UHNM colleagues to successfully manage and grow their Innovation ideas, connecting through strategic partnerships to ensure efficient and evidenced innovative solutions are adopted into practice.
This role will require excellent leadership skills and the ability to develop and bring together teams who have a shared goal across all specialities within UHNM and wider stakeholders.
The post holder will assist in the implementation of UHNM Research and Innovation strategy. Liaising with all internal and external stakeholders and be an integral part of the local and regional research and innovation community.

Essential criteria
- • Degree in a business, biomedical or health science related subject, with accreditation (qualifications) in project management or significant experience in managing complex projects
- • Evidence of higher level study at Masters Level; Alternatively working knowledge and experience at an equivalent level
Desirable criteria
- • Training in innovation management techniques /processes.
- • Budget / financial management qualification or experience

Essential criteria
- • Experience of overseeing the delivery of challenging multi-stakeholder projects to timescale
- • Experience of working effectively in partnership with a range of stakeholders
- • Experience of working with Industry Sector partners
- • Experience of being involved in Research and/or Innovation Development with experience of NHS R&D governance and processes
- • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team with own, and with other, colleagues
- • Experience of delivering training programmes & presentations to various levels of staff.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
