Job overview
The Wiltshire Autism Diagnostic Service provides complex specialist diagnostic assessment for those suspected of having autism spectrum disorder, and offers post-diagnostic support to autistic clients and their families / carers/ support teams across Wiltshire.

Main duties of the job
The post-holder will contribute to a range of activities. Primarily, to provide high quality complex diagnostic assessments for adults suspected of having autism spectrum disorder.
We carry out our assessments according to a NICE gold standard pathway, using tools such as the ADOS, ADI-R, CAT-Q, and DISCO.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To provide a service to the specified Team including assessment and post diagnostic support to both individuals and groups as appropriate
- To assess and offer post diagnostic support to a specialist workload of clients and maintain associated records.
- Participate in CPD and other developmental activities
- Undertake R & D and clinical audit as required as well as delivering training.
- Help in the clinically supervision and support of other staff in team, health and social care staff and students.
- To help the team develop sensory integration skills.

Essential criteria
- • Recognised qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Speech and Language Therapy
- • NMC or HPC Registration
- • Evidence of interest in working with autism and severe and enduring mental illness.
- • Experience of working in an autism service team or Mental Health Team.
- • Knowledge of autism assessments and appropriate services
Desirable criteria
- • Effective team player with good communication and liaison skills.
- • Well organised with good administration skills.
- • Empathy/engagement skills with the client group.
- • Ability to cope with workload pressure/prioritise workload.
- • Ability to work independently.
