Job overview

We have a great opportunity for a dynamic, highly motivated clinical pharmacist to undertake an exciting dual role with the School of Pharmacy at Wolverhampton University as a Teacher Practitioner.

With support from the University and the School of Pharmacy, you will develop your pharmacy career as an educator, incorporating completion of the University of Wolverhampton’s Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice in Higher Education – an award which provides recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

50% of your time will see you supporting the development and delivery of the teaching at the University of Wolverhampton and 50% supporting learners and providing a ward based medicines management service at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford

Main duties of the job

Based at the Princess Royal Hospital, you will lead on the day to day of undergraduate pharmacy placements and support other learners (including foundation pharmacists, preregistration trainee technicians and newly qualified pharmacists) within the department supported by cross site education and training leads.  You will provide highly specialist professional and clinical information and advice to healthcare teams, patients and carers on medicines management.

At the University of Wolverhampton you will engage in development, teaching and assessment of programmes and topic areas, supervise projects as well as tutor and support students.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered with GPhC
  • Postgraduate education to at least diploma
  • Postgraduate education to certificate
Desirable criteria
  • Registered Independent Prescriber
  • Postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. CertEd)
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Currently working in Hospital Pharmacy
  • Significant experience of hospital pharmacy if not working in that sector currently
  • Experience of MDT working with example
  • Experience of documenting in notes with example
  • Experience of supervising staff with description
  • Experience of training pharmacy staff with example
  • Audit with example
Desirable criteria
  • Project management/report writing example
  • Policy/guideline writing with example
  • Staff management with description
  • Prereg tutor/Foundation pharmacist designated supervisor experience

Skills
