Come and join us! This is a great opportunity to become part of our dynamic, friendly, and forward-thinking, inclusive Therapy Team for Trauma and Orthopaedics at the Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

You will lead the therapies teams working at the Major Trauma centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital and the trauma out-patient therapies teams at the John Radcliffe and Horton General Hospitals. You will work closely with other team leads for hand therapy, pain rehabilitation, in-patient orthopaedics, Advanced practice and MSK out-patients.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the operational management and clinical leadership of the trauma therapies team in conjunction with the Head of Physiotherapy – [1]JR in-patient trauma, [2]JR out-patient trauma, [3]fracture clinic & [4]Horton General Hospital out-patient/ trauma.
  • To use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the physiotherapy and other clinical staff whilst maintaining a caseload of highly complex patients as an autonomous practitioner within the major trauma service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To demonstrate competence against the 4 pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • To ensure efficient day to day running and evaluation with particular emphasis on integration of the inpatient and out-patient programmes.
  • To provide high quality clinical input for complex trauma patients.
  • In conjunction with the T&O head of physiotherapy to ensure excellence of training across the organisation.
  • To be a member of the Senior Therapy Management team, contributing to planning and policy development in the physiotherapy department, and to deputise for the Head of Physiotherapy as required.
  • The balance of clinical : management time to be evenly split with 50% clinical in any of the 4 designated areas.

 

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualified and HCPC registered physiotherapist
  • 5 years or more Trauma or orthopaedic experience
  • Msc or working towards / equivelent
  • Evidence of involvement in Quality improvement, audit or research
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience leading a team
  • Experience of working in MTC environment
