Job overview

As part of a friendly professional team you will be responsible for greeting patients at reception, checking and updating personal details, using Careflow and other relevant clinical systems, while maintaining patient confidentiality.  You will work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team on Harvey One ward. You will liaise and book appointments with outpatient services for patients following their orthopaedic surgery. You will have good organisational skills and an excellent telephone manner. You must be able to manage your work load and prioritise effectively as well as having good communication skills and will be professional at all times. You must be committed to a high standard of patient care and safety

To undertake all extra clerical duties attached to the post and to work in other areas and across site if required.

Main duties of the job

To provide a welcoming and friendly reception to patients, visitors and members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

Deal with enquiries in person or by telephone in an efficient and polite manner.

To create and file health records

To maintain confidentiality of patient information – following the I.G Code at all times.

To locate and retrieve health records from around the Trust.

To organise Interpreting Services as required.

To accurately maintain hospital computer systems.

To organise patients to attend follow-up appointments.

To ensure that the reception area is clean and tidy.

To undertake all extra clerical duties attached to the post.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate an acceptable standard of literacy and numeracy skills
Desirable criteria
  • GCSEs or Equivalent in English & Maths to grade C or above

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Customer Service or Reception/Office duties
  • Experience of working within a team
Desirable criteria
  • Typing experience/RSA/Ability to use computer systems
  • Experience in an Acute Hospital Trust
  • Knowledge of hospital computer systems
