This post is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7/8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work with a long established, expanding multidisciplinary community team working with Adult Eating Disorders.

There are excellent opportunities for further training in Eating Disorders and robust systems of support and supervision within the Trust.  There are great opportunities for joint working and continuing professional development. NEDS is a very well-established service, which has evolved over the past 30 years and is a pioneer of community-based approaches to treatment and support. New developments include the development of intensive home support and day programme for people with severe eating disorders and early intervention approaches (FREED - https://freedfromed.co.uk/).

The team (31 w.t.e.) currently comprises of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists (RMN), Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Specialist Dietitians, Social Worker, Occupational Therapists, Support Workers, Arts Therapists many of whom participate in national initiatives in the field of eating disorders.

We can offer the successful applicant the opportunity to undertake sessional work in another NHFT service to offer a broad-based early career experience if desired.

We have strong working links with CMHTs, IAPT Talking Therapies, Personality Disorder Service, Complex PTSD service and the Autistic Spectrum Disorder/ADHD service within the Trust and also with the Primary and Acute care sector. 

We offer evidence-based treatment for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild-moderate cases through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa. Clinicians in NEDS work with individuals locally in the community and also co-ordinate referrals to Out of Area inpatient admissions to Specialist Eating Disorder Units (SEDU’s), when needed.

These permanent posts benefit from a recruitment incentive of £5,000 pro rata for successful candidates over 2.5 years. Initial payment of £2,000 will be made in the 1st month with a subsequent payment of £2,000 made on the 13th month of employment. The remaining £1,000 will be paid out in the 18th month of employment. Terms and conditions apply.

A relocation package is available up to £8, 000, if the successful postholder relocates to Northamptonshire and meet other eligibility criteria. This is subject to approval.

There is a very large, diverse psychology service of different specialities within the trust that provides extensive support and regular CPD opportunities through monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. The Trust enjoys good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses and there are opportunities to participate in higher education teaching.

Provide a specialised clinical/counselling psychology service to clients of the Adult Eating  Disorder Service, providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy at the same time as offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, and to carers, where appropriate.

Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams’ policies and procedures.

Supervise junior colleagues and take part in peer supervision opportunities

Deliver training to multidisciplinary staff and trainees as approrpriate

Utilise research/evaluation skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
