Job overview
We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our friendly maternity team on our York site as our Maternity Housekeeper.
You will support the Ward Leads and clinical staff in maintaining a well-equipped department and contribute to providing a clean and safe environment for our service users, visitors, and staff.
Our candidate will be a dynamic and professional individual who has excellent communication skills and is able to work effectively in an often-demanding environment.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for maintaining a well-equipped department and contribute to providing a clean and safe environment for our service users, visitors, and staff.
The post holder will be based on labour ward with oversight of all areas within maternity. They will assist in the monitoring, maintaining, cleaning and infection control on the Maternity unit.
The Housekeeper will ensure all stock are suitably ordered and stored correctly. All treatment areas and stationary cupboards should be kept clean and tidy. The role will include running general errands and duties such as pharmacy runs and assisting with light refreshments and meals for our service users and visitors when necessary.
Working times
The hours are flexible and can be worked around other commitments such as childcare or other responsibilities. There would be no requirement to work nightshifts, but there are opportunities to work some weekends if this is preferred.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
