Job overview

The post holder will be required to provide a pivotal role in the patient pathway within Radiology supporting clerical and clinical duties as required. This post is structured around 3 core functions to include:

- To assist trained and medical staff to provide safe care for patients within Radiology.
- To support qualified staff in the numerous disciplines within Radiology using knowledge and skills developed in the role.
- To contribute to service improvements and communication ensuring safe and timely patient care.

Main duties of the job

CTMUHB Radiology services are provided on three main sites- Princess of Wales, Royal Glamorgan and Prince Charles Hospital. The departments have multi slice CT, MRI, Cardiac Catheter Lab and Gamma Camera.  Busy A&E Units are supported by modular PACS. 

This post will be based on the Princess of Wales site. Current workload amounts to 120,763 patient episodes generating 137,292 examinations.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong communication skills with an ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary teams.

Previous experience of  working within the healthcare setting is essential.

Candidates will support the extended working day, weekend and Bank Holiday sessions.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education including numeracy and literacy skills.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care/Clinical Healthcare Support or posses equivalent skills
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of UHB policies and procedures.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working within a hospital/caring environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a range of clinical skills including aseptic techniques.

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Demonstates good verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
  • Possesses good range of IT skills

Aptitude and Abilities Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate a positive and caring attitude to all patients, relatives and members of staff in a calm manner.
