Pre-Registration - Trainee Pharmacy Technician

Job overview

We are excited to be able to offer not one but Three  Pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technicians posts onto an apprenticeship programme . These positions will work along side our current trainees and our qualified staff across multiple sites to gain different experiences that will prepare them to be able to register as a pharmacy technical with the GPhC. The posts are rotational and have the opportunity to work across different sectors such as secondary care, prisons, GP and community services.

The posts are full time and will involve you attending college one day a week( remotely)  to study whilst working to obtain a qualification that once successful will allow you to register with the GPhC.

To be eligible for the apprentice funding, and meet the job your   you must meet all the essential criteria and :-

Have been an  resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of learning.(not on a student visa)

Minimum of 5 GCSE at grades A*-C /9-4 including mathematics, English language and two sciences including chemistry.

Not already hold a degree in a relevant subject

Original certificates will need to be shown at interview.

 and ideally you  will have a  relevant  pharmacy qualification  such as NVQ level 2 in pharmacy skills

be able to travel across the GMMH footprint 

 

Main duties of the job

The job will involve:-

Supply of medications to wards and clinics  for both stocks and in patient use

Dispensing of medications for in patients, out patient's and clinics including controlled drugs

Involvement  in medicines reconciliation 

Prepare and train to carry out final accuracy checks of dispensed medications.

Stock recycling and cost saving efficiencies

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of FIVE GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent) to include Maths, English Language and Chemistry (or Dual Science Award)
  • pharmacy NVQ level 2 or equivalent
  • works in pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • hospital Pharmacy experience
  • mental health experience

Customer Service Skills

Essential criteria
  • Dealing with members of the public
Desirable criteria
  • Dealing with customers in a pharmacy experience

Knowledge & Education

Essential criteria
  • Good general education including numeracy, literature and IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of pharmacy services and systems
