We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Consultant within Obstetrics. The successful postholder will have experience and an interest in Fetal Medicine. Main duties of the job
Your responsibilities will revolve around the specialised care of unborn infants diagnosed with congenital abnormalities or other fetal conditions. This will encompass advanced ultrasound diagnostics, genetic counselling, and collaborating with other specialists to develop and implement tailored care plans. Additionally, you will be at the forefront of fetal interventions and cutting-edge technologies, striving to optimise outcomes for both the foetus and the expectant parents. As a Consultant in Fetal Medicine, you will actively contribute to research and education, disseminating knowledge to your peers and fostering a culture of excellence in the field. Your dedication to patient-centred care, collaboration with colleagues, and a commitment to staying abreast of the latest advancements will be paramount in ensuring the highest standards of care and maintaining Royal Oldham Hospital's position as a centre of excellence in Obstetrics. Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- Relevant CCT or equivalent (“equivalence” must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by the date of the AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
Knowledge, Training & Experience
Essential criteria
- Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
- ATSM in Fetal Medicine
- ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice
- Knowledge of risk assessment
- Evidence of service development
- Experience of supervising junior medical colleagues
Desirable criteria
- ATSM Advanced Antenatal practice or High Risk Pregnancy
- Interest in office gynaecology, acute gynaecology and early pregnancy
- Interest in research publications relevant to obstetrics
- Interest in medical education
- Completed special skills modules appropriate to the post
Skills & Abilities
Desirable criteria
- Able to perform amniocentesis independently
- Evidence of management and administration experience
