It is an expansion post and brought about by increased clinical work in the Transplant department including stem cell gene therapy programmes, CAR-T work, and increased allogeneic transplant activity. There is significant support of the hospital to the translational cell and gene therapy research programme.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to take part in the CAR-T, allogeneic transplant, and stem cell gene therapy clinical and research programmes.
The post holder will join the clinical team in BMT attending, as well as participating in leukaemia.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- MBChB or equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent MRCPCH or MRCP
- Completion of general professional training Medicine or Paediatrics
- Eligible for specialist registration in Haematology or Paediatrics Oncology. Should be on the specialist register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT or equivalent at interview.
- Relevant clinical experience in Clinical Paediatric Haematology, and Transplant and Cell Therapies
- Good team-working skills
Desirable criteria
- MD, PhD, or other higher degree
- FRCPath, or equivalent
Teaching and Audit
Essential criteria
- Teaching medical students
- Teaching junior medical staff
Desirable criteria
- Experience of audit
Academic Achievements and Research
Desirable criteria
- Publications in peer reviewed journals or a demonstrable commitment to developing research within this field in the Trust
Other Requirements
Essential criteria
- Full registration with the GMC
- Registered on the GMC Specialist Register (or be within 6 months of CCT date from the date of interview) or equivalent
