Cross-site Northwick Park and Ealing Hospitals 

The post-holder will hold a science related degree prior to graduating from the recognised Physician Associate training program neither from UK or equivalent from the States.

He/she will work under the supervision of the consultant emergency physicians, working collaboratively with other members of the clinical team within the Trust’s policies and clinical guidelines. The job will principally be directed towards clinical and medical support in all areas of the Emergency Department. The post will give an opportunity to manage patients in Emergency department as well as get experience on working within ward (Observation ward).

The successful candidate will work alongside and under the supervision of Emergency Medicine Consultants in the ED and ED observations unit to deliver high quality patient care.

The post-holder is expected:

  • To manage patients on the Clinical Decision Unit under the direction of the duty consultant.
  • To manage patients in all other areas of the Emergency Department within your scope of practice.
  • To exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy when assessing, managing and planning care for a caseload of specific emergency medicine patients with a variety of emergency presentations.
  • To develop extensive specialist knowledge and experience in emergency medicine, acting as a resource to the clinical team, allied health professionals.
  • To contribute to achieving and maintaining targets DH standards for treatment in Emergency Departments.
  • To support our work related to College of Emergency Medicine audits

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant training program, and certified by the national commission on Certification for Physician Assistants
