Job overview

Due to an upcoming maternity leave we have a great opportunity for someone to join our team for a 1 year fixed term full time post.  You will be based at Mount Vernon Hospital and The Warren Health Centre working with people who have acquired disorders of communication and/or swallowing due to stroke and other neurological conditions.  The post holder will lead the service in the provision of out-patient therapy to people with acquired disorders of communication and/ or swallowing due to a neurological cause.  The successful applicant will also be expected to support junior therapists and enable them to develop their skills in SLT with this population.  We have a good relationship with the local communication support groups and volunteers run by the Stroke Association.  If you have skills already and would be keen then you can also work with voice disorders along side other colleagues.

Competence in dysphagia is essential.

Although this is a full-time position applicants who wish to work part-time are welcomed and a job share may be considered.

·        To co-supervise band 6 Speech and Language Therapists

·        To provide advice and supervision to other SLTs in the team regarding the assessment and management of aphasia, dysarthria and cognitive-communication disorders, and dysphagia.
