Job overview

The Information Governance Project and Assurance Manager is a new and essential role of the Information Governance team within Digital and Information Services across North London Mental Health Partnership responsible for supporting the Partnership Head of Information Governance and the Data Protection Officer in managing the IG agenda across the entire Trust and will take a lead in information governance project and assurance management. The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and delivery of the Trust’s annual Information Governance work programme, incorporating Data Protection and Confidentiality, Corporate Records, Access to Health Records, information asset management, cyber security and data protection impact assessment (DPIAs).

Qualifications and Registration

Essential criteria
  • Educated to a degree or equivalent experience and competencies or extensive relevant senior experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Relevant IT Security & Information Governance qualifications.
  • Specialists in Data protection GDPR, freedom of information or Masters in Information Governance
  • Information systems qualifications, such as Cyber Security
Desirable criteria
  • Educated to a master level with a degree or equivalent experience and competencies or extensive relevant senior experience
  • PRINCE 2

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • In depth knowledge of IG and use of information within the Health and Social Care sector
  • Line Management skills
  • Knowledge of NHS Information requirements, including Monitor Compliance Framework.
  • Expertise in completion of Data Security and Protection Toolkit
  • Experience of drafting information sharing agreements and updating records of processing activities register (ROPA)
  • Knowledge of Data and Cyber Security
  • Knowledge of Freedom of information Legislation, Data protection Act 2018 UK GDPR, Access to Health records act, etc
  • Knowledge of GDPR
  • Experience of drafting and completing data protection impact assessments DPIAs
  • Experience with information asset management
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Mental Health & Community Services and the way in which data is used
  • Highly developed knowledge of working with patient based clinical information systems

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to manipulate and analyse large complex data sets at speed and produce figures in a clear, accurate and meaningful manner
  • Experience of staff management including PDP and recruitment.
  • Detailed knowledge and application of performance management tools and techniques and the development and use of balanced scorecards / dashboards.
  • Expert level of experience managing Data Protection and Freedom of Information requests
  • Experience working with the Information Commissioner and ombudsman
Desirable criteria
  • Working at a senior level to effectively lead an IT department
  • Experience of dealing with National NHS organisations such as the Department of Health and CCG’s.

Personal Qualities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing priorities, to manage timeframes with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate both in written and verbal forms with a wide range of disciplines.
