The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.
The hospital has been on its present site for over 100 years and was established as an NHS trust by statute in December 1990. Following the transfer of Enfield Community Services on 1st April 2023, this has increased as we have welcomed over 600 new staff including District Nurses, Community Matrons, Community Physiotherapists, Psychologists and many more across a wide range of adult and children’s community services in Enfield. Band 7 Highly Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist posts consisting of:
Contracts: 1x Permanent 0.8 wte, 30 hours per week. 1 x Fixed term 0.8 wte, 30 hrs per week - 1 year to cover maternity leave from August’24 - August’25
Experienced and Professional multi-disciplinary provision delivering Therapeutic services for children with the London borough of Enfield.
The services currently comprise of: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and language therapy, Dietetics, Complex Needs and Palliative Care Nursing and Specialist Family support. The service works closely with other disciplines within the Child Development Team and Primary Care Team (Health Visiting, School Nursing and Safe guarding services) to provide services across the borough.
The service also works closely with the Local Authority (in particular Joint service for children with Disabilities and Special Education Needs Department) including Schools in the provision of a joined up Health, Education and Social Care provision.
The Physiotherapy service is an established Musculoskeletal (0-14 years) and Neurodisability (0-19 years) service which provides specialised Physiotherapy assessment and intervention to children with varying needs in community settings, special schools, clinic and the CDC.
The Band 7 Physiotherapist will have a mixed caseload consisting of children of all ages.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist assessment for children aged 0-18, who may have complex presentation, to determine relevant clinical picture and specific treatment indicated, working as an autonomous practitioner
To provide specialist advise and work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team, including Paediatricians, Orthopaedic Consultants, GPs, SLT, OT, Nurses, Social care professionals, Educational professionals and other services.
To educate families and carers regarding their child’s specific physiotherapy management including exercise programmes, targeted activities, positioning advice and physical activity recommendations.
To work closely with Wheelchair services, Orthotics department and other specialist equipment agencies, Voluntary agencies and other professional groups to ensure physiotherapy treatment is fully integrated into patient care programmes.
To be responsible for the appropriate physiotherapy treatment of an identified group of children, with a wide variety of conditions, including children with severe physical and/or cognitive impairment, some of whom may have complex social and psychological needs
To formulate individualised physiotherapy management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning skills and utilizing a wide range of specialist treatment approaches.

A wonderful opportunity has arisen for you to join a well-established, highly professional, warm and welcoming children’s physiotherapy team at Enfield. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Physiotherapist, with established specialist skills and a passion for working with children and their families in a thriving MDT environment.
You will join a long established, supportive, forward-thinking team of highly experienced Physiotherapists working in Enfield Community Services. This is a community role based at St Michael’s Primary Care Centre, delivering physiotherapy services in a range of settings including, schools, homes and clinics.
The post may offer opportunities to work in a range of areas across the service, including within our large Musculoskeletal Service, as well as the Neurodisability Service. All areas of the service are well supported by band 4, band 6, and band 7 colleagues. There is regular in-service training, and your professional development will be well supported by the Clinical Lead.

Education/qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Graduate diploma or BSc Physiotherapy • Evidence of ongoing CPD • HCPC registration • CSP membership
Desirable criteria
- • Member of APCP • Member of special interest group • Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and/or qualifications

- • Evidence of broad experience working in paediatrics including neurodevelopmental delay, complex needs and/or MSK • Experience of working as part of an MDT • Evidence of appraisal and supervision of junior members of staff and students • Previous working within the NHS in the UK
Desirable criteria
- • Some experience of managing a Paediatric MSK caseload • Evidence of involvement in service development
Skills and Knowledge

- • Demonstrates specialist knowledge of paediatric assessment and treatment interventions in neurodevelopmental physiotherapy and/or MSK • Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills • Able to work independently and able to manage own caseload • Demonstrate use of evidence-based practice • Have a sound knowledge of clinical governance and risk • Evidence of participation in research or audit

- • Experience of hydrotherapy • Knowledge of specialist postural management equipment and orthotics
