Job overview
To support the Trust in meeting statutory health provision for Looked after Children and Care Leavers and to ensure that services across the Trust are meeting the needs of vulnerable children, reducing health inequalities and supporting transition to adulthood.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate the provision of services to Looked after Children, Care Leavers and vulnerable children
To ensure that care pathways are in place and followed with quality assurance processes in place
To oversee and report monthly and quarterly KPIs and complete an Annual Report
To act as Trust lead for Child Exploitation and Serious Youth Violence
To provide health input to high risk panels for children and young people including CEAM (Child Exploitation and Missing) and Channel
To contribute to the work of the Corporate Parenting Board
To ensure that all staff who work with Looked after Children and other vulnerable groups have had training appropriate for their role

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with an additional qualification
- Evidence of ongoing safeguarding and specialist training and personal development
- Evidence of knowledge acquired through post graduate study or equivalent operational experience with child exploitation, Serious Youth Violence and Looked after Children
Desirable criteria
- Masters level study
- Leadership /Safeguarding qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working in a safeguarding / looked after children/vulnerable children role
- Experience of multi-agency/partnership working at operational level
- Experience of working as part of a specialist safeguarding and LAC team
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of safeguarding adult practice
- Experience of providing Safeguarding Supervision
Skills
Essential criteria
- Evidence of partnership working with vulnerable children including Looked after Children
- Ability to demonstrate extensive understanding of safeguarding and Looked after Children principles and their application to practice
- Receive and communicate information relating to safeguarding and patient safety, which may impact on the Trust or on an organisation-wide basis
Desirable criteria
- Involved in supporting projects/practice developments
