We are looking for an experienced, dynamic practitioner passionate about safeguarding adults and the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and Liberty Protection Safeguards who has strong leadership skills or feels ready to be taking the next step in their career progression. This role will be to undertake the daily operational management of the team (adult), undertake statutory duties as a Named Nurse, act as a role model of exemplary practice to team members and deputise when required for the Deputy Head of Service. This role will provide expert advice and support across the Trust, ensuring that patients coming into the Trust have their human rights protected. You will be based at QEQM hospital but expected to work on all Trust sites.
We are an all age Safeguarding team with varied and complex workstreams. We also support a team of HIDVAs , a homeless pilot pathway and our learning disability and mental health nurse. We work Trust wide to support our frontline colleagues with safeguarding through a combination of a duty system and being on site.
Main duties of the job
Day to day operational management of the adult part of the team, including health roster, annual leave, sickness, recruitment, team members 121s and appraisals. Being part of the leadership structure for the All Age service, support both new and existing staff to gain/develop safeguarding knowledge, skills and expertise around the Care Act, MCA and DoLS . Work as a Safeguarding Adult practitioner undertaking duty, training, supervision, best interest meetings, report writing. Undertake Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews, support S42 enquiries and investigations. Provide leadership of the MCA systems and processes and supporting opinions on complex cases, undertaking mental capacity assessment and supporting best interest decision making. Oversee the development and ongoing quality assurance/audit of systems for storing information, up to date handover of patients and monitor MCA/DoLS/LPS activity across the Trust.
