Job overview
We are seeking to employ fully qualified Mechanical Craftspersons to join a busy estates maintenance department to work on all trust sites as required.
The ideal candidates will be competent in their core trade but also be trained to a multi skilled level.
Experience in a Hospital or other large and complex buildings would be desirable.
Main duties of the job
To efficiently maintain and provide a reliable Engineering, building and grounds services at St Richards Hospital and other sites. Performs work including activities which are complex and/or non-routine. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of plant and equipment.
Undertaking maintenance, repairs, minor improvement and capital works across the hospital as directed by management, ensuring compliance with hospital safety standards and procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Mechanical Craftsperson will be employed on work Appropriate to their core skills. They will however be expected to perform in areas where deemed competent and suitably trained to multiskilled level, with the intention of reaching levels of flexibility and competence to enable them to work independently or together with other trades.
A Technical knowledge and understanding of the following core skill areas are required: -
- Sewage and waste disposal.
- Air Conditioning and ventilation.
- Boilers, steam and low-pressure hot water, gas fired.
- Cole water storage tanks.
- Compressed air plant services and services.
- Domestic hot water services and water softeners

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- City and Guilds plus relevant experience demonstrating knowledge at a level equivalent to level 3
- Completion of a recognised mechanical/plumbing trade apprenticeship and experience in a similar technical discipline
- Plumbing/Mechanical NVQ level 3 Plus relevant experience
Desirable criteria
- CP Medical Gases
- CP Water Hygiene
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of all aspects of mechanical and building services.
- Experience of working on large complex systems
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a healthcare setting
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills at all levels able to communicate highly technical information
- Computer literate experience of Word and Excel
