Systemic Family Therapist

Band 8a

The 5 July 2023 marked 75 years of the National Health Service. The founding principles remain as relevant, and valued, today as they were 75 years ago. Why not join us and make a difference to be Better Every Day.

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We are looking to recruit a Systemic Family Therapist to work across our Forensic Services and Poole CMHT. The post is permanent and there is an initial 2 year pilot to develop systemic services across both teams. Both services have a strong history of working with families and we are keen to further develop this area of expertise and there is a funded business case for the development of a small systemic team, which you will help to develop and lead. Within the CMHT there is a transformational plan already being implemented which is prioritising families and systems with members of staff being trained in Open Dialogue.

Along with the strategic development of the service, the clinical aspect to the post will involve working with a range of families and individuals who are currently using our services across a range of inpatient, and community settings. There is strong managerial and clinical support for this post and the work is highly valued. There is opportunity to have regular contact and CPD systemic colleagues inside and outside of the organisation.

The organisation has strong links to the MSc Family Therapy course at the University of Exeter, and the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Courses at the Universities of Southampton and Exeter, both of which offer Foundation and Intermediate AFT accreditation as part of their training.

You will be joining well-established teams who value supporting each other to achieve the best possible outcomes.

With support of other senior clinicians, you will take a strategic lead in developing and leading the systemic family work service within the forensic service and Poole CMHT. The work will cover a low secure inpatient service, a community forensic team and a CMHT.

You will work clinically in an inpatient and community setting with individuals with complex mental health problems and their families, to deliver high quality systemic assessment, formulations and interventions. The post is embedded into comprehensive multi-disciplinary teams.

You will be required to identify training needs and provide supervision for staff as necessary. You will be aware of the need to prioritise the health and wellbeing of the team in order that they feel supported in their work.
