Position: Band 6 Hand Therapist
Location: University Hospitals Dorset (across two sites)
Contract Type: Part-time (hours negotiable)

Main duties of the job
Role Overview: As a Band 6 Hand Therapist, you will work closely with patients referred from orthopaedics, primary and secondary care, as well as self-referrals. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for hand and upper limb conditions.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Contributing to the development of evidence-based practice.
- Participating in in-house training and development programs.
Requirements: To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- A minimum of two years’ experience working at Band 5 level.
- Willingness to participate in 7-day working on a rota basis.
- Ability to drive, hold a clean driver’s license, and have access to a car for work purposes.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
- Member of BAHT
- Evidence of BAHT or other relevant courses
Experience
Essential criteria
- Hand therapy experience
- Worked as an outpatient therapist in the NHS or in a system comparable to the NHS
Desirable criteria
- Experience with custom made thermoplastic and neoprene splinting techniques
- Experience of working in hand therapy outpatients at Band 6 level
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to teach & supervise Junior staff & assistants
Desirable criteria
- Independent manufacture of variety of bespoke static and dynamic splints
