Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic Nursery Assistant to work in our highly valued nursery.  We are looking for a special person who is great fun, has a creative imagination, doesn't mind getting messy, and can answer all questions put to them by curious little minds!  You must be able to sing (tunefully or not) and enjoy telling stories that come alive.   #CaretojoinusTSD

More importantly, you must be ready to become part of our friendly team and share the same vision to be the best that we can be in caring  for and educating our next generation of excited and enthusiastic learners..

You will have a sound knowledge of the EYFS, have effective communication skills and be able to work collaboratively in a large team.  You should have an excellent knowledge of child development, safeguarding and be able to demonstrate a high level of practice and knowledge with children.

This post will be based in the pre-school room (3-4 years), however you may, at times, work with all age groups within the nursery to meet the requirements of the service. 

Working  Wednesday, Thursday & Friday on a permanent contract  of 22.5 hours per week. 

 

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding knowledge of the EYFS and be able  to provide exemplary care and education to children and babies. You will work within a 54 place Day Nursery caring for children from 3 months to 5 years, and be required to have a wealth of experience of children ranging from babies to preschool.

Why work with us - Rainbow Day Nursery is the workplace nursery for Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, based at Torbay Hospital.  

We work in an integrated way with allied health care professionals within the locality, and are a motivated and caring team to both service users and colleagues. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To foster good relationships with parents and share with them appropriate information about their child’s progress and development; on a daily basis and at parents’ evenings
  • To maintain excellent communication and rapport with all children and parents at all times in order to ensure effective partnership with parents
  • To communicate with other team members in the nursery
  • Conducting observations on children and making accurate assessments on their individual progress
  • Writing termly assessment reports for individual children

Please note: You must hold a minimum of a level 2 recognised Early Years qualification (in accordance with https://www.gov.uk/guidance/early-years-qualifications-finder) and be able to work varied and flexible shifts to meet the demands of our workplace nursery setting.
