Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum. This temporary top up will be in place until the annual pay uplift for 2024/25 is confirmed.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be able to find a full job description and person specification attached within the supporting documents.

You will ideally be AAT qualified or hold a Finance/Accountancy degree with experience of working in an accounting environment. Previous NHS experience would be advantageous.

Candidates must possess excellent communication, organisational and IT skills and be able to work to defined deadlines.

The office base will be CQ2 with the expectation of hybrid working, appropriate equipment will be provided.

AAT degree in Accountancy/Finance and Business or equivalent experience

Experience of working in a large complex organisation
Experience of working with non financial senior managers.

Desirable criteria

Experience of working in the NHS in a financial environment
Costing and business case costings.

Skills

Essential criteria

Excellent IT skills, including experience in all Microsoft applications
Ability to work under own initiative
Ability to work on multiple complex tasks, working to tight deadlines
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of the financial Oracle system.
An appreciation of NHS financial accounting.

The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.

In general, anyone joining our Trust who has not previously worked in the NHS will, by default, start on the first point of the advertised pay band. Pay progression will then be determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews in accordance with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy. An application for Incremental Credit may be considered, but can only be awarded based on evidenced, reckonable service and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
