Clinical Practice Facilitator - Paediatric Oncology

Your role is pivotal in supporting the training and development of all bands of staff, ensuring the provision of a positive learning environment in which staff can maximise their full potential and ensuring the nursing workforce is able to deliver the care required for the patient group.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will be responsible for competently providing safe and effective care, without supervision to children requiring in-patient hospitalisation and day stay care facilities. Assess care needs, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care. Participate in the supervision, teaching, mentorship and appraisal of pre and post registration staff.

Regularly co-ordinate the management of care delivered by nursing and non-nursing support staff, taking charge of the ward in the absence of the ward manager. Demonstrate leadership ability

Qualifications

  • RN (Child) / RSCN
  • Educated to a minimum of Diploma level
  • Teaching/assessing/mentoring module
  • Post registration qualification in paediatric oncology

  • Degree in nursing related subject
  • Teaching qualification, or willingness to undertake

Experience

  • Significant Paediatric Oncology nursing experience
  • Experience in leading a team or in routinely coordinating a shift on a children’s ward or outpatient department
  • Experience of mentoring students

  • Experience working on both inpatient and outpatient departments
  • Experience in implementing a change in clinical practice
  • Experience in undertaking the performance management process

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of paediatric oncology care
  • Knowledge of paediatric haematology / oncology patient treatment pathways
  • Good understanding of Safeguarding issues

  • Knowledge of community support networks available to children, parents and families
