Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with the University of Buckingham, is a University Teaching Hospital; we conduct research and teaching on site to improve the care of our patients . The hospital is undergoing significant  investment and development including a new surgical ward, a new main entrance (allowing expansion of A&E services),  a new Academic Centre and a planned new Cancer Centre.

Job Title:  Locum Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine Plus Sub-Speciality (Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine or Emergency Medicine)

Department: Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Pain

Location: Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Salary: £76,761 to £103,490 per annum

Programmed Activities: 10 (additional may be available via annual job planning process)

 

Applications are invited to apply for a full-time Locum Consultant post in Intensive Care Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is to cover a period of maternity leave, this will be for 12 months until 1st March 2019 with the possibility of extension and consists of 10 programmed activities (9 DCC and 1 SPA)

There will also be scope within the job plan to accommodate sub-specialty interests such as Anaesthesia, Acute Medicine and Emergency Medicine.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and progressive clinician to join our friendly, dynamic team of intensivists. There are excellent opportunities within the department to develop personal interests e.g. echocardiography (including TOE), research, outreach and ICU follow-up in our highly respected department of critical care (DoCC). The unit is fully accredited for FICM training and is well staffed with trainees from ICM, anaesthetic, ACCS and medical backgrounds.

The successful applicant will join a department of 10 Intensive Care Consultants who are responsible for the 10 bed DoCC and depending on experience and interest, may also undertake sessions within our anaesthetic, medical or emergency departments. Candidates are encouraged to contact the department to discuss this part of the post further.

This post would be ideal for an applicant who is currently in or considering a post-CCT position and would like to gain excellent experience at consultant level in a university teaching hospital before applying for a substantive post.

CCT in ICM (or equivalent experience) is required for this post.

The Trust has close clinical and academic ties with Oxford University Hospitals and the successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with the University of Oxford and the newly opened University of Buckingham Medical School.
