Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated physiotherapist to join our Musculoskeletal Outpatient Therapies Team at the  Weston General Hospital site of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) NHS Foundation Trust. 

As a result of supporting a member of staff to go on secondment, we have a fixed term part time band 6 physiotherapist role supporting the Rheumatology pathway in the  Musculoskeletal Outpatient Therapies service. 

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will, manage their own caseload as an autonomous practitioner, providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment. You will work closely with the other members of the outpatient team, Rheumatology Multi-disciplinary team, and mentor band 5 colleagues, therapy technicians and undergraduate students as required. 

You will be supported by highly skilled and experienced band 7s and 8a’s across a range of specialities, the wider MSK team and the Adult Therapies MSK Pathway and Divisional Leads. As a teaching Trust we actively promote and encourage lifelong learning. You will have access to a robust in-service training programme, annual development review, coaching and mentoring. We can also support appropriate external training courses.

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy team and/or multidisciplinary team
  • contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff, students and assistants
  • evidence of previous rheumatology experience and participation in audit
  • Clinical Supervision of students and assistant staff
  • Experience of managing a Rheumatology caseload at post graduate level

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • Health Professions Council registered
  • A variety of experience in core areas as a postgraduate physiotherapist e.g. Care of the Elderly, T&O, musculoskeletal, respiratory & neurological, dealing with a wide range of patients with differing needs
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Previous musculoskeletal experience

  • Involvement in Relevant Special Clinical Interest Groups
