East Sussex Healthcare Trust (ESHT) Pathology Department is seeking to appoint a replacement Consultant Histopathologist to join their friendly, efficient team of 9 consultants on a 10 Programmed Activity per week basis.
The laboratory is CPA accredited, dealing with over 24000 surgical cases and 2000 non-gynae cytology specimens per year. Consultant workload is allocated using a Warwick workload allocation system. An established double reporting system for cancer cases is in place to enhance quality assurance.
The case mix is that normally seen in a district general hospital with consultants taking an integral role in cancer MDTs. The key cancer sites are breast, colorectal, urological, haematological and skin cancer. Participation in the post mortem service is welcomed but not essential.
ESHT has two acute sites, located in Hastings and Eastbourne on the southeast coast. The area provides a choice of town or country living at affordable prices with a wide variety of leisure activities available nearby. There is also easy access to London and London airports.
