Job overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly-motivated individual to the role of Band 8a Lead Nurse for our Tri-borough Community Perinatal Mental Health Services.  This new post in the service is full-time and will be working across the London boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hammersmith & Fulham.  The successful candidate must be a registered mental health nurse and will need to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and have detailed knowledge and relevant experience to enable them to provide clinical and professional leadership to the nursing workforce in the service, as well as lead on the interface with acute/crisis and in-patient care pathways to ensure the dynamic patient centred services with a particular focus on high standards of safe, quality nursing care.

These are innovative and award winning services, with the Perinatal Service having achieved RCPsych Perinatal Quality Network accreditation in 2022.  So far in 2024 the service has also won a NHS Communicate award, an Our Health Heroes award and most recently a Positive Practice in Mental Health award, all linked to the progressive equality, diversity and inclusion work that has been co-produced with our Experts-by-Experience.  The service has a well-established Experts by Experience Group and a strong ethos of co-production.

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Perinatal senior management team, the successful candidate will:

·     Provide senior nurse leadership to the nursing staff of the PMHS and provide motivation and vision in the on-going development and implementation of high quality, responsive and accessible nursing care pathways for women and birthing people, their babies and families/supporters accessing PMHS, ensuring these meet the diverse needs of the local communities served

·     Be an expert clinical resource to Perinatal services and the wider professional community, holding a small caseload of highly complex cases.

·     Lead the interface between acute/crisis and in-patient (including MBU) and community services to facilitate appropriate alternatives to admission and the safe discharge of patients from in-patient services
