Trosolwg o'r swydd

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and conscientious Specialty Doctor to work in the Child and Adolescent mental health team in North Cumbria. North Cumbria CYPS is a dynamic service that values all members of the MDT who work together to provide a comprehensive range of community-based child and adolescent mental health services across North Cumbria including crisis and routine CAMHS work as well as eating disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disability. This is a full-time post. The post holder will work alongside consultant colleagues and an international psychiatry fellowship doctor managing their own caseload with weekly supervision. There will be opportunities to pursue areas of special interest where service provision allows.

The role will involve consultation, assessment and management of patients referred for Psychiatry input from the internal MDT, urgent assessment and management of young people presenting to A&E / ward alongside crisis team staff, Supporting the MDT with risk management, liaising with Paediatrics / Primary care where appropriate as well as taking a lead on the management of physical health monitoring alongside a specialist nurse. The service offers placements to medical students as well as Core Trainees; whilst the post holder will not be the named clinical supervisor, they will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall support of clinical placements in the service.

We are seeking a conscientious psychiatrist, ideally with experience in the CAMHS field who is keen to work independently with support. The role spans the whole of North Cumbria so you will typically offer clinics in both Carlisle and Workington/Whitehaven each week and attend to emergencies at acute hospitals or home visits where necessary.

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Registration with the GMC (or eligible to become registered) with a licence to practice

  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field

Knowledge

  • Awareness of current issues and controversies in service provision, mental health policy and legislation

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years full-time postgraduate training including 2 years work experience in psychiatry
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Wide clinical experience in psychiatry in different clinical settings

  • Experience in service management or development
  • Experience of clinical audit
