The Surgical ACP team are delighted to offer this opportunity within the department for a qualified ACP to join the surgical team.
Successful applicants will have the chance to learn from the specialist teams within the department including Acute Surgery, Hepatobiliary, Upper GI, Urology, Head and Neck and Colorectal and be able to offer their own experience to the department.
The primary focus of the role will be to support the ward based medical teams, assessing patients, performing investigations and working as the link role between the medical, nursing and AHP teams for the patients under their care. There will also be opportunities to work as part of the Acute Surgical ward admitting undiagnosed patients and supporting decision making and investigation of their care.
This role is open to any qualified ACP (either nursing or AHP) with experience working in a ward based environment

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Within the role you will be expected to:
1. Work alongside the consultant and junior medical teams in managing patients under your care. This includes:
a. Performing ward rounds with consultant teams
b. Independently reviewing unwell patients
c. Discussing plans of care with patient and staff
d. Clerking new patients to the department.
2. Act as a role model and expert point of contact for nursing and AHP teams within the department
3. Provide teaching, training and support to staff across the trust

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register
- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice –full master (180 credits) Or equivalency pathway –the portfolio route –recognition by HEE centre of Advanced practice, via the supported portfolio route. Including NMP where professional registration permits. Or have formally credentialed on a nationally recognised specialty specific Advanced Clinical Practice programme for example FICM or RCEM EM ACP
- Speciality specific post registration qualification or training
- Provide evidence of Leading learning in practice
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
- Provide evidence of Supporting /managing and supervision a range of learnings in practice
- Leadership and Management qualification
- Able to develop and implement policy, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion
- Completion of IR(ME)R Training
- Extensive post registration experience in a relevant speciality
- Experience of Service Development
Desirable criteria
- Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
- ALS instructor
