Pharmacists

Pharmacists advise medical staff and patients on the use of drugs and how to achieve the best results for treatment. They may be based in a hospital, the community (eg high street chemists) or GP Practice.

Entry requirements

Pharmacy is a scientific profession requiring a high level of education and training. Entry to the profession is through a four-year pharmacy degree course followed by one yearÂ’s competence-based, preregistration training and a registration examination.

For the degree course, you need three A level passes (or equivalent): one in chemistry and two others from biology, mathematics or physics, as well as GCSEs (or equivalent) in English language and mathematics.

Applications should be made via UCAS.
