Prosthetist and Orthotist
Prosthetists produce artificial replacements for limbs.
Orthotists help patients with movement difficulties and discomfort by providing braces, splints and special footwear.
Entry Requirements
To train as a Prosthetist or Orthotist you will require three A levels, including maths and at least one science, preferably physics, chemistry or biology.
Two institutions offer degree courses in prosthetics and orthotics: The University of Salford and the University of Strathclyde . The course takes four years after which you are awarded a BSc (Hons) and are eligible to apply for state registration.
Applications should be made via UCAS .
Prosthetists and Orthotists are registered by the Health Professions Council (HPC)
